#SDBerlin: Sustainability in Fashion

Sustainability Drinks Berlin is a group gathered around organizing events in the subject of sustainability. About every 6 weeks we prepare an event with a different subject in the domain of sustainability. Some of the previous events include Sustainability in Hygiene and Sanitation, Sustainable Christmas Market, Architecture and Interior Design, etc. Usual schedule for our events includes two presentations with Q&A, a quick pitch session and a lot of networking. Every time we present a different subject from the domain of sustainability. Sustainability Drinks Berlin has a base of around 1000 professionals and individuals in Berlin.

I found out about Sustainable Drinks Berlin via Meetup and decided to join in and prep an event about my passion, sustainable fashion.

The Sustainable Drinks Evening was held at March 5 at Betahaus in Berlin. There were more than 200 visitors - it was by far the biggest event until now. Speakers were Sophia Opperskalski, founder of Interloom and Helen Gimber, designer and campaigner from Clean Clothes Campaign.

Sophia Opperskalski

Sophia talked about trends, hopes and challenges for sustainable fabrics today and her work with Interloom.

You can find her presentation here.

Helen Gimber

Helen gave us an overview of the problem of fashion's global supply chain and her work with Clean Clothes Campaign / Inkota-Netzwerk.

Helen's presentation is available to view here.

Thank you

With many people from the sustainable fashion industry, and many people that learnt about it first time now, this was a wonderful evening of learning and exchanging knowledge. Many thanks to all the participants and visitors!
